The Rationale
English Beyond the Classroom includes all activities aimed at enriching the English Language curriculum. The activities offered to enhance language learning suit a range of abilities, interests and needs and are based on the principle of Situated Learning. Situated learning is learning that takes place in the same context in which it is applied. In this model, learning is conceived as a social process where knowledge is co-constructed. The strategies used will involve authentic and meaningful use of English in real world settings through apprenticeship, cooperation, collaboration, field trips and the like.
