Proverbs have a useful purpose in language learning. They are intended to teach valuable lessons about learning and help you communicate your thoughts more powerfully. Their pervasive nature in all societies and cultures makes them known to people of all age groups and they contain values and beliefs traditionally held by the cultures. Use them in your writing.
